‘Liu Sa’ Bun at New WK Restaurant Luyang

NON-HALAL

We tried the luscious bun called liu sa bao at New WK Restaurant in Luyang yesterday and felt compelled to share it with you. Liu Sa Bao is a steamed hot bun that oozes a buttery smooth salted duck egg yolk sauce when bitten into. At first the whole idea of hot runny duck yolk was a little gross, but this has been cooked, smoothed into a paste, and it tasted like food for the Chinese gods.

The bun itself was soft, warm and lovely, and sinking into one and being surprised by a burst of oozing sauce is akin to finding a well of liquid gold. Soooo decadent and yummy….

Liu Sa Bao is available as one of the dim sum items served during the day time. A basket comes with 3 mini buns. Regardless of whether you are dropping by to get this for takeaway or having it there together with dim sum, we think you’ll love it!

Pros: Some dishes at New WK are fabulous, some are mediocre (but still better than most)
Cons: They are often understaffed so the service isn’t a good as it should be

Here’s where to go:

  1. remember to eat it while it’s hot…once it cools down the ‘liu sa’ inside tends to ‘harden’…and it won’t be as smooth as it was still hot…=D

  2. Ooo I love this very much <3
