WHAT DOES KKMOI MEAN?
KK is an acronym for Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. In Sabah, an Ah Moi is used to describe a local young lady. KKMOI is a common label used locally to describe an Ah Moi from KK.
WHO IS KKMOI?
KKMOI is a shy mystery gal. She is also the alter ego of the founder of this website and Editor-at-Large for KKMOI.COM. She’s a 4th-generation KKMOI, avid traveler, music enthusiast and foodie.
KKMOI.COM however, is made up of a band of ghost reviewers. We visit restaurants quietly like Pink Panther to preserve the integrity of our reviews. This is so that restaurant operators won’t act differently toward us and go about their daily business as usual…
WHAT IS KKMOI LIKE?
Like most Ah Mois in KK, she adheres to the Protocols of the Elders of Ah Mois. This includes but are not limited to seeking out the highest quality goods and services at the best value possible! She gets excited about bargains but doesn’t like fake stuff. While shes doesn’t believe in buying lemons that look like oranges, she’ll hoola-hoop if she gets three oranges for the price of one!
You can read our beliefs here.
THE FOOD CRITICS
Sometimes KKMOI gets second and third opinions before reviewing something. The jury include formally-trained culinary professionals, serious foodies and anybody who matters in the decision process. Mostly, it includes gnarly people who are really, really picky.
CAN I INVITE KKMOI TO REVIEW US?
You can write to us, but KKMOI and her dining posse are shy and would prefer to remain unknown.
HOW TO CONTACT KKMOI
If you want to advertise or ask us questions, you can write to info@kkmoi.com

Hello kkmoi,
First of all greetings from Sailors’ Cafe and a happy Chinese New Year
to you.
Your ultimate food, travel and lifestyle experience website has come to
my attention recently when I was looking for some reading materials on
the web. I thought it might be fun to just google Sailors’ and see what
pops up on the search engine.
There were a few blogs about Sailors’ and it was indeed a good read as I
have always believed in hearing what people in general would think of
Sailors’. This gives me the opportunity to see on which areas we can
improve and change to make the experience at our establishment more
beneficial for consumers like you and many others out there in KK.
But what intrigued me most was your list of places to eat and the
reviews that you’ve done on them. I can honestly tell that you are a
genuine food enthusiast who knows how to differentiate between the good,
the bad, and the ugly. And you did a fantastic job in delivering the
excerpts with sheer professionalism, congrats.
I have a problem with bloggers who write for the sake of writing and not
mean what they actually type just because they want materials on their
blogpost, and at any rate it totally spoils the whole concept of writing
especially when it comes to food reviews. Many i’ve seen are superficial
and have no life to it. I would say there’s still a long way to go for
food bloggers here particularly in Sabah.
You on the other hand are on the right track to success. Simple and
honest writes are the key to great reads on top of good english that is!
So congrats on a work well done and please keep up the good work.
Kind regards,
Nestor Suan

Thanks for the lovely comment and Happy Chinese New Year to you too. We are big fans of Sailors’ and always tell many of our associates to head there for great eats at great prices!
I love your fish and chips, carbonara, sloppy joe’s and chunky mushrooms in your mushroom soup!
We have experienced true passion for quality in your restaurant and hope that you will continue to set the standard for other operators in Sabah. Do let us know when your menu changes as we will be glad to review them when possible.
Warm regards,
