NO PORK SERVED
A lot of people think Chiwawa is that annoyingly hyper mini-canine that has made Taco Bell very famous, but this Chiwawa is not THAT Chihuahua!

Instead, Chiwawa means the same thing as the Malay word “Alamak,” which has the same use as OHMYGAWD!

Now that we all know what it means, let us get right into the business of reviewing!

First of all, CHIWAWA! I can’t believe we finally have:-
a) Burritos in town and
b) Mexican food in town…

Most of all, I am just so relieved and glad we finally have salsa that doesn’t taste like Nyonya Achar. True story. I once had what pretended to be Mexican at a 5-star hotel here. They put achar and tandoori chicken inside these tacos and it was just WEIRD. Nuff’ said!

Weird like how I took this photo and got my friend’s bum in the shot (I had permission to promote the bum shot). Hey, stop staring pervert. I know she’s hot but she’s a mother of two!

On to the food buying. The set up is very typical of a line production system the likes of Subway or any sandwich bar in the U.S. for that matter. You pick your choice, and they plop it into your wrap. Simple process!

They have several sizes of wraps for you to choose from. The 6″ Sonny boy (RM6) 8″ Six Shooter(RM10), 12″ La Bamba (RM11), 18″ Mariachi (RM24), and the 24″ Chiwawa (RM32). GREAT PRICING strategy.

When it comes to choices, there are 3 types of chicken flavors and beef mole, with 11 sides and 8 sauces to choose from. Not bad for choice!

The only thing that I question is the production line starting from right-to-left for the customer, which is less intuitive. I notice these things!

Seating

It’s a tiny-tiny casual place, with one table inside. The rest of the tables are really on the sidewalk (very popular trend now in KK).

It’s obviously a lot more comfortable in the evenings when the sun is down, but I went there for lunch and there were people seated on the outside anyway.

I do tend to do more takeouts than sit-ins.

Taste Verdict

Honestly, when the wrap is wrapped, it doesn’t make for a pretty picture because they try to fill it to the brim for value.

So let’s talk about the taste. Be warned, I’m a really hard one to please when it comes to Mexican food.

My time in San Diego and New York have me expecting a lot more than the entire Asian region can offer in the past 12 years. I’ve done Mexican in just about every Asian city I’ve been to including Australia, and so far, the only thing that comes close to making me smile is the Tex-Mex place called Vatos in Seoul. It’s co-owned by my friend Juweon who is a Korean-Texan. Vatos makes some mean pulled pork and kimchi fries.

As for authentic Mexican (I like it really ethnic btw), still haven’t found a place I’m happy with outside of the U.S. Even London’s Mexican food is bleh.

Saying that, beggars can’t be choosers. The burritos here taste good enough and are fine by local standards. If you ask me would I rather have Chiwawa or no Chiwawa, then definitely, I want the Chiwawa in KK. I go there regularly to get takeaway, and I wouldn’t be happy if I couldn’t even get a decent burrito.

They have delicious burritos, but toward the latter part of the the day, their fillings do get cold so I hope they put a microwave oven there to warm things up soon.

Otherwise, we commend Leo Valasquez and his team for daring to turn a portion of Bella’s under-utilized dining room into a fast food burrito joint. I love the concept, the wraps, BRAVO!

The Good

Very affordable, generous portions, and burrito awesomeness!

Could Be Better

I need the super spicy hot sauce a la Mexican flaming style like the El Yucatan! I also want warm burritos always, so I’ll go speak to them about it.

Definitely check it out!

There’s a relatively new restaurant right at the edge of town in Tanjung Aru. It’s trendily called Table No. 1, although it doesn’t only have one table; it has plenty of tables. We decided to check the place out because the converted-into-a-restaurant bungalow looked so inviting when we drove past it.

So we did a bit of digging and found out the restaurant is owned by a local Sabahan lady, and Table No. 1 is her concept and creation.

Signage

I think one of the things that draw people to the restaurant are the pretty bright signs out on the road side.

Obviously, this looks best at night.

Ambiance

Outdoor Area

Not that I encourage it, but if you’re a smoker, or need to fellowship amongst smokers, their outside area is pretty good for that.

It’s especially great for catching up with people you can talk and talk about life and everything in between with. There’s a slight hum from passing traffic from the street, but it’s tolerable as long as you’re with people you enjoy being with.

Indoor Area

Actually, the set up is even nicer inside. The air-con temperature is just right, the interior and setting is tastefully done, and I really liked the mood of the place.

It was also one of the cleanest restaurants I’ve ever set foot in… in Malaysia. Read: Perfect for people who like superclean places ie, neat freaks, nurses, matrons, surgeons, etc.

The table setting is pretty, but I’m not so sure if the organza napkins are that practical seeing that people will be wiping oil all over it *shrug*. Not complaining though, just a bit of a throw off is all.

Cakes, why don’t you hurry up and fill that pretty display fridge behind. But, I love the lighting, flowers and the Chinese New Year figurines!

More pictures on the restaurant interior. Very new, very soft effect, and very pleasant.

The bar area.

Dining area…

Before we proceed to check out the food, here’s a picture of some nice Korean ladies. They really are nice.

Food

Salad

Honey Dijon dressing salad was ah-ok. I wanted it to be exciting. It fell short of glory but to be honest I won’t complain as long as the salad is fresh and cold (which it was).

Fish N’ Chips

Looked and tasted decent. Only thing is, it’s predictably dory, like every battered fish that gets served in KK. (Except for the one at Sailor’s Cafe)

Spaghetti Gamberi

This was garlickly, flavorful, and tasted at the very least authentic enough to be labeled Italian. But I would have liked the prawns to be more exciting either in terms of size, bounce, and flavor.

I’d love for them to cook an expensive version of this using big prawns mmm.

Roasted Chicken Leg

The roasted chicken was pretty nice. I think it boils down to the flavorful Frenchy sauce reduction and vegetables that come with it. Portion size is kind of small though. (read: Frenchy)

Love the roasted vegetables!

Chinese Fried Rice

It’s a decent plate of fried rice.

Mee Goreng Mamak

It’s a decent plate of Mee Mamak.

Taste Verdict

Let me explain what “decent” means. “Decent” means that the quality, when compared to other restaurants locally, is a little higher than normal in terms of presentation, freshness, and taste. It’s good enough where you would eat and happily pay your tab without complaining.

They serve hotel-standard food, meaning, there’s some kind of standard value there that would please picky people. Would I go back there again? Sure. Probably often. But there will be no culinary awards given for menu innovation and novel taste experiences.

Table No. 1 serves a mix of Western and Asian favorites that are reasonably priced for the pleasant experience. The real reason why I really like this place is because of how incredibly clean and light the air is inside the restaurant.

For the ambiance and price point, I’d heartily recommend Table No. 1 to folks as long as they aren’t out there expecting to be served epicurean dishes. The food is “decent” by common standards (so, not bad) but I don’t recommend that you go bragging about how great their food is to foodies. You’d be better off saying, it’s a nice place for a catch up and the food’s “decent.”

Critic Ratings

Food: 6.8
Ambiance: 8.8
Service: 7.5

So go check it out. I hear they have nice drinks on offer, but I’m kind of on a sugar-restrictive diet and can’t review those for you.

ENJOY!!!

Don’t you find that lately, it’s been impossible to find parking just to go eat in places that you want to eat at? I ended up serendipitously in Iramanis at a coffee shop called Kong Dung Chai, because I could not get parking at Damai, Lintas, and Hilltop on the same morning.

Like a typical Guangdong spread, they hung their best roasted meats on a display unit. At first glance it looked pretty good…

To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting much since the coffee shop had a rather demure energy about it. Even though the tables weren’t entirely empty, somehow the chi was not fierce, like the places that are extremely popular. It was however clean (by kopitiam standards), breezy, and quite relaxing (by kopitiam standards).

They did seem to offer enough variety to suit everybody’s idiosyncratic preferences.

From dry to soup noodles, rice and side orders, it seems like Kong Dung Chai does have a menu that offers popular combinations.

As for me, I wanted to sample their signature stuff, so I ordered some noodles with char sau, sau nyuk, and a side order of duck leg.

Konlaumein with Char Sau and Sau Nyuk – RM7.00

(Char Siu & Siu Yoke Tossed Noodles in Black Sauce)
The noodles were pretty nice because they were al-dente and the sauce wasn’t too salty. Plus it had a hint of garlicky flavor to it, which is kind of pleasant, and interesting in a light way.

Both the char sau and sau nyuk were however mediocre by my “atas” standards, though completely acceptable by third world standards. As a foodie, I wouldn’t jump hoops trying to get some cuts of these, but if you asked me to choose between having roasted meats in Kudat or this shop, I’d choose this shop any day!

Roasted Duck Leg – RM9.00

The duck however was pretty good because it was kind of juicy for an Asian duck (I prefer European & Australian ducks). It was also pretty tasty and I imagine this would go really well with a plate of steamed hot white rice. It went well with my noodles!

Any regular duck-loving person living in Sabah would find it yummy and nice!

The Verdict

I won’t go there especially to have their char sau and sau nyuk. If I happen to crave for konlaumein with duck leg, I’d consider this as an alternative to the shop at Thai Seng or Kin Hwa, depending on where I’m at when I’m about to go hunt for food. I think the duck leg and noodles is a perfect combo, because of their tossing sauce and juicy duck leg!

Kind of yummy. Give it a go if you happen to be in the area!

How to Get There

Head to Iramanis. The store is next to a hardware store, overlooking the side block where Capstone bookstore is.

NON-HALAL
Few things intrigue me as much as a dirty shack that people will wait hours without end just to have a bowl of wantan mee.

So when the owner of the hotel I was staying at insisted that I try the wantan mee stall around the corner, I knew I had to have it.

What I didn’t expect was to stand by the roadside for an hour, spend another half hour resting my butt on the fence ledge, and another half hour sitting on an old plastic stool waiting to be served. With barely enough room for my legs, I competed for space with a roadside Chinese altar of sorts amongst other crazy people!

All for a bowl of wantan mee? Yes, I know. I had to satisfy my foodie curiosity!

The wait was definitely unpleasant. The owner’s default mode is one of grumpy stressfulness, in a feat that looks like him and his son-tag team had not gotten a production system down after all those years.

They were barely coping with the demand of equally grumpy, hungry customers, who nonetheless waited grumpily for their bowl of wantan mee. Bearing in mind the famous hawker street Jalan Alor is just around the corner!

The Taste Verdict

GLORY! Finally got my bowl of wantan mee after two excruciating hours of sniffing the mix of wantan broth and the scent of residual incense from the red altar I sat by.

There’s nothing spectacular about the way it looks. In fact it looks downright sad compared to the regular kopitiam combination.

The char siu looks like it’s been sliced off a very thin pig, and the wantans were actually quite small. Saying that, it was pretty cheap, so I shouldn’t complain.

What about the taste? Alright. Flavor-wise, the gravy of the noodles was definitely a lot more intense and flavorful than your typical wantan mee. It was sweet, savory and smoky at the same time. I guess the smoky flavor is the secret?!

The wantans itself? Small, but full-of-flavor. Of course it’s not going to be as gourmet and bouncy like the ones you get in Hong Kong, but it was pretty tasty to be honest… in a shack wantan-mee that makes you wait for 2 hours kind-of-way.

Maybe it was the MSG, maybe they added a bit of something-something, I don’t know. I just hope it’s not boogers and spit in there. But after scarfing the noodles down in 5-minutes (wouldn’t you be hungry after 2 hours?), I can see why people put themselves through the waiting hell and push aside hygiene concerns just for a taste of “working class” culinary heaven.

Would I do it again? Maybe, but unlikely. I’d curse my way through the entire wait under my breath, and I’m just not sure if it’s worth all the stress!

But you should at least do something crazy once in your life.

The stall has no name, but look for a “stressed-out” noodle-tossing old uncle with a thin white beard in front of YY38 hotel. He tends to have moods and doesn’t show up everyday to open the stall. You could be going to this stall for a few nights in a row without avail. Or you could arrive there, having to wait at least 1.5 hours to get that bowl of wantan mee. The stall is at the corner of Tengkat Tongshin and Changkat Bukit Bintang. Good luck warrior!

A few months ago, we saw Nestor Suan of Sailors’ Cafe post some pictures of his friend’s new restaurant called Aubergine. So in the spirit of being an adventurous foodie cum supportive friend of friends of friends, we went there to enjoy their not-too shabby little bistro and to sample their food!

Ambiance

This bistro occupies a corner lot facing the highway, on the 1st floor (Same block as Lucy’s Kitchen). Our first impression was that it was a no-nonsense cozy bistro, perfect mostly for evening meals with people you feel comfortable enough to chat about your life with. As long as you don’t mind other people eavesdropping too.

Business dinners may work if yours is the kind that can hack a relaxed, casual, yet mood-filled setting. It also works well for small young families, even the elderly with adult children.

The furniture’s not too shabby, with rubber-wood tables and chairs, and also a couch area near the entrance. The casual cozy bistro with mood-lighting would be a hit with the younger crowd.

On to the food…

Chicken Caesar Salad

This was fresh, but not your classic Caesar salad. I just think Caesar salad should be Caesar salad. Plus, because I’m a bit of a raw fanatic a.k.a. salad snob, my expectations tend to be a little higher than most people. (I eat salads almost everyday).

The salad is decent compared to most places in KK, but they need to consider a name change or go back to the classic Caesar recipe.

Eggplant Bruschetta

Didn’t taste as great as it looked in my opinion. I thought the bread was too dry, and that the eggplant needed a twist of something. It would have been great if the eggplant was dipped in a shallot-balsamic dressing prior to toasting.

Just my preference!

Fried Chicken Wings

Ok-lah. Still can’t beat the chicken wings at Kinabalu Yacht Club. The wings need to be bigger, fatter, juicier, and lightly crispy to float my boat. These are fine if you don’t care about size.

I like my wings plump.

Salmon Creamy Pasta

That’s not the actual name of the dish, but that’s what CBQueen had. I honestly don’t remember if I digged into her plate, because I generally don’t ask to try creamy pastas unless the dairy sauce looks especially interesting.

I do think it’s probably a decent plate of pasta but I’m more of a red sauce or pesto kind of gal. CBQueen said it was fine.

Beef-Tripe Spaghetti

AussieHousewife ordered something most unusual; beef-tripe spaghetti with capers. She later shared that it’s something you can actually find in Italy (she’s had it in Italy before), and gave this a stamp of approval. I took a bite and was delighted.

If I didn’t know it was an Italian dish, I might have had to get used to the fact that I got ngiu chap bits in my pasta. But since I was told it’s legitimately Italian, I enjoyed it like an exquisite dish. It was tasty!

Fish Tacos

Last but not least, I ordred fish tacos for my main. The menu didn’t specify what type of fish it is, so I had expected it to be some kind of white fish. It wasn’t, it was salmon.

I love salmon as much as the next salmon-loving person, but I didn’t think it worked in the fish tacos. Fried salmon is just too greasy to have with salsa bits tossed in a creamy dressing. It was rich, and fishy like fried-salmon fishy. I did tell the chefs about the wrong choice of fish, so hopefully they sorted this dish out.

Service

Was a little slow coming out with the dishes. They did apologize about the service speed and hiccups, stating that they’ve been open for a mere few days, and that they will improve as they go along. Saving grace customer service and I like their attitude! A+ for effort!

Overall, our visit to Aubergine was satisfactory with some room for improvement in their first week of operation. They definitely do not lack passion or creativity, and ingredients were fresh which is most important to us. It’s been three months since, so we’re due to go back for another sampling of their more stable menu.

What a wonderful bunch of young people living their dream. They are eager to please their customers. Go support them!

Whenever I ask people what’s there to do in Sandakan, they always say “Seafood, you gotta do seafood!” Thing is, I might have seen some photos on Facebook, but there’s no real reason to keep details unless I’m going to be in Sandakan. So when I found myself on a whimsical trip there with Felitastic and AmericanGirl (yes, she was back in Sabah for 2 weeks, see above), we had to ask Felitastic’s local friend, photographer extraordinaire Jonathan T for recommendations.

Jonathan recommended Pasir Putih Baru as the place to go to for seafood. He owns a gallery showcasing his awe-inspiring landscape photography (more about that later). I figured his recommendation would be sound since he is pixel-specific about quality, and he sounded like a real foodie.

Off we went, in our white little 3-month old rented Proton Saga. At this point, I learned that the way to get anywhere in Sandakan is to pay attention to roundabouts. Roundabouts with larger-than-life animals smack in the center.

In this case we were looking for a giant lobster in the dark. While I had no reason to doubt the navigation skills of AmericanGirl using the interpreted directions from Felitastic, turning the GPS on was just something I did for backup to appease the city slicker in me.

After the roundabout, we drove on and alas, we saw a huge bright sign spread across the dark night of the Sandakan sky. (Excuse the crappy phone photography.)

We were told to look for Mr. Foo, so went in looking for him. He greeted us warmly and seated us on a round table.

Ordering Time… Oooh

The bona fide food critic in me took it upon myself to order, since I can do it in Cantonese and Hakka. This is kind of a neat perk if you want to make sure you understand their menu when there is no printed menu, but don’t worry! Mr. Foo speaks English just fine.

Mr. Foo lets the catches of the day roll off his tongue as he thinks of what’s left in the tanks. It sounded great, except that they were out of snapper. AmericanGirl who is a full-time vegetarian in the U.S. (except when she’s traveling) wanted snapper. Nonetheless, we settled with a live pomfret at the recommendation of Mr. Foo.

On the first round we ordered steamed pomfret, steamed sea-caught prawns, sabah vegetables with garlic, and sizzling local scallops on a hot plate. I mentioned to Mr. Foo not to make the portions too big since we were just 3 ladies. I guess he really took that to heart because the portions were small.

Steamed Pompret in Soy Sauce & Scallion Oil

Pomfret always reminds me of my childhood. For one, it used to be a popular fish that my mom and grandma would make for dinner. Unfortunately, it’s become so popular that it has gotten stupidly expensive for even unfresh ones in KK, so I end up buying salmon or cod for value.

The one we ordered at this restaurant was live, yes LIVE! Mr. Foo assures me that it will be lovely because it is super-fresh. He was not just right, his fish overrode even the pleasantest memory of the best steamed pomfret I had, because this pomfret was really tender, fresh, and the flesh was so sweet. Umami mummy, my faith in pomfret as an enjoyable fish has been restored! (Amazing because the fish was little!)

Steamed Sulu Sea-Caught Prawns

PRAWNS! Sandakan’s most famous seafood item. Peeling these are a chore, that is until you sink your teeth into these succulent babies. Since they are caught off the Sulu Sea (which connects to Pacific Ocean) and kept alive until cooking time, these are definitely the best prawns ever. The taste, tenderness, and flavors are just exquisite — like nothing I’ve had before!

The best way to enjoy them is steamed. I wasn’t too keen on the thick black sauce that came with it, preferring instead to dip them into my light soy and cilipadi sauce – the best. But I was floored in terms of the freshness and taste of the prawns. Ain’t nothing like it!

Sabah Vegetables with Garlic

Delicious, but the portion was rather lean. Next time I’m going to let Mr. Foo know to make it for chlorophyll gluttons.

Sizzling Hot Plate of Scallops in Black Sauce

I can only describe the taste of the scallops as heavenly. So fresh, so sweet, I’m in love with scallops all over again. Granted, it can’t beat the size of the ones I had in Melbourne, but on flavor, this was oh-mah-goonies “toss-the-diet” yummy! I only wish the portion was bigger.

We were still hungry, so decided to order a second round of stuff; salt and pepper slipper lobster, house special yee mee with live prawns, and deep-fried soft shelled crabs. After all, we were on vacation!

Salt and Pepper Slipper Lobsters

AmericanGirl insisted that she’s had lobsters all her life and requested that we didn’t order lobster. But Mr. Foo suggested Slipper Lobsters, which is a different type altogether. I’m glad we went for it. This was ohhhh so yummy. Again, so fresh, so flavorful, so succulent and tasty!

It was pretty meaty and the simplicity of the salt and pepper thin batter really brought out the true taste of the slipper lobster without masking it. Totally worth it!

House Special Yee Mee with Live Prawns

I asked Mr. Foo what their house specialties are and he said the Yee Mee. We caught sight of the next table eating some noodles and asked if that’s what he meant, and he said yes. Looked pretty good so we ordered that.

The best yee mee ever. With succulent LIVE PRAWNS from the Sulu Sea. You just don’t get anything better than this as far as fresh ingredients are concerned. I’m going to have to bring CBQueen here next time, whose Hokkien propensity for deep-fried noodles compares to vampires craving for human blood. Pretty sure she’ll like it!

Deep-Fried Soft-Shelled Crabs

Last but not least, we ordered soft-shelled crabs. If chewing on edible crustacean shells doesn’t excite you, I should point out that even though I am a proponent of an anti-inflammatory diet, I ate these babies anyway. Even though the last time I ate soft-shelled crabs was closer to 1999, I gladly chewed on these because they were Sandakan soft-shelled crabs – that’s right. In Sandakan, you either do seafood or you don’t. Like Yoda says, “Do. Or Do Not. There is no try.” SO I DID.

And I didn’t wheeze afterwards, like I always do after I have crabs. That’s not to say you should risk your life if you’re allergic to crustaceans, but I’m sharing that I went from crab-free to crab-amour and it was delicieux!

You know when the fake French comes out before the wine, it must be pretty darn good.

It’s pretty darn good!

The damage for 7 dishes, of which 6 had LIVE seafood in them, with side orders of white rice is RM130. YES! That’s about USD43 or GBP26.55. For 3 people? Live seafood? Where on earth can you get this? Incredible!

I can’t believe I blew hundreds of ringgit on live seafood dinners in KK, when I could have just brought some friends over to Sandakan for some quality seafood at blowout prices and do the touristy sights too.

Which begs the question, why aren’t you booking air tickets in advance just for a foodie trip to Sandakan? This place is GOLD if you don’t mind a rustic setting. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you Jonathan, thank you Mr. Foo, thank you Sandakan. I’ll be back for more!

NGOM! NGOM!

How To Get There

Just tell the taxi to go to Pasir Putih Baru (make sure you arrange for your ride back too). If you’re driving, you’d need to ask a local for directions. If you ask me, I’ll tell you it’s somewhere near the lobster roundabout. :}

Don’t you think wires have a mind of their own? At least for me, no matter how I roll up my USB cables and earphones neatly, somehow they always end up getting tangled when I try to remove one from the main bunch.

The Problem

If you’re like me, you want a practical solution for this common but annoying problem. Like me, you probably have a bunch of all kinds of cables, connectors, and wires that you store in a drawer somewhere. You need them but it’s a pain to have to unravel wires when you’re in a rush to use them.

How Did We Get Into This Mess?

The first step to realizing process paradise is to know that it’s not your fault. We all got thrown into the age of computer peripherals and devices that comes with extra stuff, and there’s no manual in the management of “extra stuff.” Until now…

The Solution

Nothing works better than these velcro straps I found a few days ago at Citymall. They cost RM6.90 per box of 6 at CT Department store (1st Floor). I’m sure other specialist shops sells them if you tried to hunt for it, but in KK, hunting for anything is usually a pain in the ass and a waste of time.

They’re amazing because you just wrap them around your rolled up cable, and fasten the ends with the hook side to the loop strap. I’ve tried sorting my wires out with rubber bands, ribbons, strings and the problem with that is I get annoyed too when I’m spending too much time to unravel one cable.

As a lady who takes on multiple roles, I’m pretty busy and don’t really have time to dig my nails into anything. Untying rubber bands, ribbons and strings jut don’t cut it for me.

Where To Buy

In KK, you can get some at CT Department Store at Citymall (RM6.90) or as one of our readers shared, Daiso (RM5.00). So what happens when they run out or it’s just too expensive to manage your 39596 cables?

Luckily for us, they’re pretty easy to make. If you have a sewing machine, just head to an arts and crafts store, buy your velcro and some fabric ribbons, and sew them yourself.

Paying a bit more attention to improving your life processes in the spirit of the kaizen method means you’ll have a more productive, efficient, and less frustrating time.

The Result

Voila! No more tangling and tripping. They are easy to identify as units, and you’ll thank the heavens for the invention of velcro. ENJOY THEM!

VEGAN

I first learned about the nutrient-rich beauty, detoxifying, blood sugar-controlling green juice while meandering in the streets of Mongkok in Hong Kong. Since then, I’ve recreated it in my kitchen using my own juicer and I must say it’s been a fantastic experience.

For one, this glass of raw, living, enzyme rich juice gives me a jolt of energy in the morning. Now that I have been having it for a few months, I find that not having it makes me feel more sluggish than if I did have it. The best time to have it is in the morning on an empty stomach, but you can also have it at other times of the day as long as you do it at least an hour before a meal for maximum nutrient absorption.

Recipe

Time to make: 10 minutes
Servings: 2 glasses

1 medium green bell pepper

3 small green apples or 2 medium apples

1 stalk of celery

1/2 medium cucumber

2-inch bittergourd ring

Directions
Wash and cut all your vegetables and apples into a size that is suitable for your juicer. Juice, stir, and drink!

Purported benefits

High in antioxidants, controls blood sugar, iron deficiencies, detoxifying effect, and weight loss.

Bittergourd
The bittergourd is said to detoxify your body and also has been known in Asian naturopathy to be an excellent vegetable for the management of diabetes and high blood-sugar conditions. I drink it to balance out whatever high-GI foods that I take to counter the high insulin production.

Green Bell Peppers
According to LiveStrong.com (which takes its data from the USDA National Nutrient Database), just 1 cup of green bell peppers give you 120 mg or the equivalent of 200 percent of your daily vitamin C intake. I don’t take synthesized vitamin c unless medically required, because it doesn’t make any sense that humans have survived without them fine up until about 80 years ago.

Celery
An excellent source of Vitamin K, celery is also a low calorie food that is great for people who are trying to lose weight. It’s also packed with antioxidants.

Cucumber
Cucumbers are high in potassium and silicate, which is great for replacing lost electrolytes as well as being awesome for your skin health. Read the 10 health benefits of cucumbers by NaturalNews.com for more information.

Green Apple
Apples give you the sweetness and still keeps the calories pretty low. According to LIVESTRONG.COM, there’s only 47 calories per 100ml of apple juice, plus it if you add it as part of your well balanced diet it will help protect against diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
